Description

Circular veneer former. Designed for arched products up to 20" wide x 96" long, up to 4-1/2" thickness

11.875" Min. and 48" Max. radius, 20" width allows for multiple parts to be formed in a single charge

The PT-4 veneer former is designed to form circular products. The PT-4 has the largest width capacity of the Pro-Tech veneer forming systems. Its wide 20” capacity permits multiple components to be formed per charge. Its quick setup and high capacity make the PT-4 the most economical method of forming half round products in the industry.

The inner profile of the part to be formed is defined by 25 form arms mounted to an array of steel ways. The form-arms are easily adjusted to the correct location by referencing scales mounted on the steel ways. A software program provided with the machine can calculate the location of the form-arms as well as other machine set-up parameters.

A hydraulically tensioned stainless steel band provides the laminating pressure. The band is suspended from an adjustable drum mounted to a swing arm. During the machine cycle, the swing arm is rotated 180 degrees by a hydraulic motor; disc brakes with variable hydraulic pressure are used on a drum rotor to tension the stainless steel band.

Two hydraulic vises define the start and end of the component. The start and end vises as well as the drum are mounted to slide ways and adjusted by acme screws powered by electric gear motors. Digital counters indicate the location of the vises and drums.

The component is loaded in the machine and securely clamped in the start vise by a hydraulic motor that powers the jaw. The operator then forms the part by actuating the swing arm controlled by a toggle lever located on the control panel. The swing arm rotates about the machine center axis and forms the component to the form arms. A removable hydraulically powered end vise jaw is attached to the end vise and clamped.

The total setup and load cycle for the PT-4 is typically 12 minutes.

The PT-4 is equipped with a 20KW RF generator. The generator will cure a 1” thick component in 3 minutes depending on adhesives and materials used.
